Peroxides are a group of compounds with the structure
R−O−O−R, where R = any element.
The O−O group in a peroxide is called the peroxide group or peroxo group.
The nomenclature is somewhat variable.

meta-Chloroperoxybenzoic acid (mCPBA or mCPBA) is a peroxycarboxylic acid. A white solid, it is used widely as an oxidant in organic synthesis.
mCPBA is often preferred to other peroxy acids because of its relative ease of handling.
mCPBA is a strong oxidizing agent that may cause fire upon contact with flammable material.
in previous sessions we completed chemoselective reducing reagents. now chemoselective oxidation is also equally important.
here we will discuss chemoselective oxidation of alcohols.
1.jones reagent
2.collins reagent
3.PCC
4 PDC
5.swern oxidation
6.moffatt reaction
so here we will discuss is it in a complete manner.
here you will get to know about chemoselective reducing reagents.

Many more selective reagents are still remaining. We will discuss them in next post.
